Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association

OUR HISTORY
Our organization was founded in 1959-1960 as the Frederick County Retired Teachers. The name was changed in 1966 to the Frederick County Retired Teachers Association and changed again in 2001 to our current moniker, The Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association (FCRSPA). Whatever you call us, we have been serving FCPS retirees, FCPS students and the community at large for over sixty years! Below are the names of our original founders and some iterations of our name and logo over those six decades.

While our name and logo have changed over the years, we have never stopped believing in the goals that were espoused by those founding members and officially adopted in 1972:
-
To work for the general welfare of retired teachers
-
To promote good fellowship among its members
-
To keep its members informed of the activities of the association and news in general pertaining to the profession and to retirement life
-
To initiate and support legislation for the benefit of retired teachers
-
To cooperate with the Maryland Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association

The storied history of the Frederick County Retired Teachers Association is one of growth - growth in membership, growth in diversity and inclusion, growth in cooperation with the state and national associations, growth in the number of people attending the annual state convention, growth in participation at our social events (the lifeblood of the organization) and growth in the number of members rendering service in our communities - service to schools, hospitals, churches, charitable organizations, and the students and families of Frederick County. We are, and will continue, "Working Together to Protect and Enrich Our Retirement."
